This policy explains how DogWood House collects, uses, and protects your personal information in accordance with applicable US privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act where applicable.
DogWood House is a professional dog boarding business based in Solebury, Pennsylvania, serving New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Greenwich, Connecticut. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

When you book a stay with us, we collect:
- Your full name and contact details — phone number and email address
- Your home address
- Your dog's name, breed, date of birth, and any medical or behavioural notes
- Your vet's name and contact details
- Booking dates, drop-off and pick-up times
- Payment records — we do not store card details
Described in the language of the California Consumer Privacy Act, the categories of personal information we collect are:
- Identifiers — your name, email address, phone number, and home address
- Customer records — booking details, stay history, and payment records
- Commercial information — services you have booked or enquired about
- Communications — messages you exchange with us by email or SMS
We do not collect sensitive personal information about you. Medical and behavioural notes relate to your dog, not to you, and are used solely for their care.
Almost all of the information we hold comes from a single source: directly from you, when you book a stay, complete an intake form, or contact us. In a medical emergency we may receive information from your vet.
We collect and use personal information for the following business purposes:
- Managing your dog's boarding stay — check-in, care, and check-out
- Communicating with you about bookings, including confirmations and reminders
- Maintaining stay history for continuity of care across visits
- Contacting your vet in the event of an emergency
- Keeping the records we are legally required to keep
Our legal basis (lawful basis) for processing your data is the performance of a contract — your booking — and, where applicable, your consent for communications. We use it for no commercial purpose beyond providing the service you booked.
By providing your mobile number at the time of booking, you consent to receive SMS notifications related to your booking. These include booking confirmations, drop-off and pick-up reminders, and post-stay follow-up messages.
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message we send. Message frequency varies by booking. Standard message and data rates may apply.
We use our SMS delivery provider. Your phone number is transmitted to them solely to deliver messages on our behalf.
Our public website sets no advertising or analytics cookies — no trackers, no ad pixels. Our infrastructure provider may set strictly-necessary cookies for security (such as bot protection); these are essential to serving the site and identify no one to us.
DogWood House is a US business and your information is stored and processed in the United States. Our infrastructure provider operates a global network, so data in transit may pass through servers outside the US, protected by encryption throughout. If you contact us from outside the United States, you understand your information will be handled in the US as described in this policy.
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and meet our legal obligations. Booking records are retained for a minimum of three years. You may request deletion at any time, subject to legal obligations to retain certain records.
Wherever you live, you can ask us at any time to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you — the right to know, and to access a copy of it
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete your information, subject to records we are legally required to keep
- Opt out of communications, and of any sale or sharing of personal information — though we do not sell or share personal information and never have
California residents hold these rights under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of them, contact us at hello@dogwood.house. We will verify your request using the contact details on your booking — a verification step that protects your information from requests made by someone else. You may also use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we will confirm the request with you directly.
We will never discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right — same service, same prices. We offer no financial incentives in exchange for personal information.
Our services are for dog owners and our website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We make no automated decisions about you and do no profiling. Every decision about a booking is made by a person.
All data is stored on encrypted infrastructure. Access to our systems is protected by two-factor authentication. We review our security practices regularly.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, contact us first — we will do our best to put it right. You may also lodge a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission or your state attorney general. If you are in the UK or EEA, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised; material changes will be flagged to active clients by email.
